Congratulations to my friend and fellow BRAVA member Kim Radatz who just walked away with the $15,000 Best of Show award at Tampa's prestigious Gasparilla Festival of the Arts! I woke up this morning to an email sent out by one of our group members to hear the news for the first time. My husband and I traditionally hit the show on Sunday afternoon, so I have not seen Kim's booth yet. I can hardly wait to ask her how it felt when the juror walked over with that big fat ribbon! Although the article in the St. Pete Times implies that this is Kim's first juried competition, it is far from that. She has other awards from past shows. But Gasparilla is a biggie, and now doors will be opening for her everywhere! I am so happy for her. The winning mixed media piece is shown here, titled "The Scarlet Letter."
